  • School Meals

School meals are provided through Apsens and menus follow a three-weekly rotation.  All the food served at Lillington is made and cooked in our well-resourced school kitchen by our amazing and creative catering team.

All children need a nutritious, balanced meal to grow and meet their full potential.  We are confident your child will find a meal combination they will enjoy from the menu to help them develop and excel during school time.  We actively encourage all children to enjoy a school-cooked lunch.  We believe school meals offer excellent value for money whilst ensuring that your child receives a wholesome, nutritionally balanced meal.  Please also remember that children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a universal free school lunch.

School meals need to be compliant with the School Food Standards. These were created to help children develop healthy eating habits and ensure that they get the energy and nutrition they need across the whole school day. Therefore, parents should be able to trust that the school’s menu has been developed based on scientific nutrition research. Find out more about the Governments School Meals Food Standards

Children order their meals in advance at home with you. When your child starts at Lillington, the initial activation information will be sent to you from the school office.

Eating a meal with friends is an opportunity to pause, enjoy conversation and learn the value of eating well.

Free School Meals – is my child eligible?

Regardless of your child's year group – from nursery through to Year 6, it is worth applying to check your eligibility for Free School Meals. You can check if you are able to claim through this link to Warwickshire County Council’s website.

If you have a child in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, they are entitled to a universal free school lunch every day of the school term. However, please still check your eligibility for free school meals because it may also entitle your family and/ or school to additional support.

    Packed Lunches and Snacks

You can provide a packed lunch for your child if you wish. Please remember it should be balanced and nutritious. Sugary drinks, sweets and crisps are best reserved for treats. If your child brings in a packed lunch, it must be free from any nuts, including peanuts. Snacks from home can be brought into school, but they must never contain nuts of any kind.  Lillington strives to be a nut-free school and your support with this is appreciated.
