In Year 1, our learning is rooted in our whole-school value of kindness. We aim to create a warm, supportive environment where children feel confident to explore, ask questions and grow.

Our formal learning focusses on building strong foundations in maths, literacy, and phonics. Alongside this, children take part in continuous provision, which we call Adventure Time. This approach encourages curiosity, child-led exploration, and the chance to apply new learning through play.

Throughout the year, we blend structured teaching with opportunities for independent discovery, ensuring that every child is supported in meeting the National Curriculum while developing a love for learning that lasts.
